A Final Thought on Christmas

A quiet night in Bethlehem,
a silent night, a holy night.
In this year of Our Lord Two thousand and Twenty five since on this earth,
The Saviour and Redeemer, who on this day we celebrate His birth.
Of whom the Father hath said, “This is my beloved Son
in Whom I am well pleased.
Desire of me and I will give the nations unto thee.”
Whose incarnation announced forgiveness of sin
To men of good will who follow him.
To whom shepherds came to honor
And angels came to laud,
And who would be proclaimed as the one true Son of God.
Our Emmanuel, Our Lord, image of both God and man.
The Messiah, Lion of Judah, Son of David, Son of Man.
Fulfilling all the prophecies and building here for us
A church that is his body and fed on with his blood.
And on this plague-ridden night with Bethlehem so quiet
The world with solemn stillness waits to hear the angels sing.
Peace on earth and to men of goodwill.
